Gone Native - Dahlonega, Georgia

Gone Native Home

We provide a fresh, unique approach for landscape projects. Many "spec" or "run-of-the-mill" landscape installations ignore the property site conditions and minimal thought is incorporated in the "design". Common problems that arise by ignoring site considerations include improper or tasteless plant selections, increased maintenance, and erosion. Let us suggest some alternatives that work! We are located in Dahlonega, Georgia and offer native, specialized, and traditional landscape alternatives appropriate for your property's specific growing conditions, and ones that receive regular compliments from your neighbors and guests. Contact us via telephone at (706) 344-2052 or via email at renov8@gone-native.com (links below) for a personalized site visit.

Native Landscape Alternates
A wide selection of plants indigenous to the northeast Georgia area make attractive landscape displays. Some of these plants bloom brilliantly in early spring (e.g., the azalea in the photo at left) or during our summer months, while others provide groundcover or canopies for added shade. The local native plant varieties commonly require less attention and water after they have been established. Native plants are accustomed to our local growing conditions and climate, and care must be taken to place them in their preferred growing environments (sun/shade, water availability, soil environment, etc.). Using native plants in the landscape is our favorite alternative! For information, contact customer services via email here!
Incorporate a design that makes your landscape unique.
Specialized landscapes use plant varieties that are not commonly found in new or renovated displays. We want to recommend plants that are suitable for your particular setting. Plants and hardscapes make beautiful landscape combinations. Stacked rock walls and boulders provide an additional aspect and accent to the landscape. The combination of 9- to 12-month color foundation shrubs, seasonal flowering shrubs, perennials, and limited annuals with hardscape features make your landscape one of a kind. Interested? A children's play area, complete with beautiful fescue turf and bordered by a Tennessee stacked stone wall. Steps to the play area were installed with matching Tennessee flagstone. The stepped entrance area was mortared for obvious safety considerations. A variety of plants were recommended to the customer for sensory inspiration and to stimulate the children's imagination.
Seasonal and evergreen foundation plants and striking perennials make this porch side area sparkle.
Traditional landscape installations and renovations are also part of our expertise!
Traditional landscapes in the Dahlonega - Lumpkin County area usually include fescue (preferrably more drought-resistant varieties) and bermuda grasses in turf areas, and many types of flowering shrubs, trees and perennials in bedded areas. Garden and groundcover phlox, azaleas, rhododendron, viburnum, hydrangea, begonia, spirea, day lilies, and native wildflowers are commonly included for their seasonal flowering beauty. Various fruit trees, dogwood, white pine, hemlock, maple, and oak trees do well in our climate for high and lower canopy trees. Whether you desire more color, less lawn maintenance, or simply additional shade, we are always available to provide you advice and landscape alternatives. One type of renovation we thoroughly enjoy is to make a landscape more "interesting". This can be accomplished by adding rocks or rock gardens, some ground level topography, turf or garden pathways, or a combination of any of the choices. Traditional plantings can be cheaper alternatives to the more specialized ones because the desired plant varieties are usually more available. Whether you wish to complete your landscape renovation in phases or all at once, we can provide you the expertise you need. We are available to assist you. Contact us via email today!
We also offer specialty accents that are customized to your existing or ever-changing landscape!
Flagstone patios and sidewalks, stone benches, and overhead shade structures (such as an arbor, trellis, or pergola) are all available. The design and appearance of all of these hardscape and structural accents are pre-specified by the individual customer's taste and preferences. Some structural landscape additions provide a functional aspect as well. Structures such as retaining walls and terraces minimize or eliminate soil erosion and gullying in "trouble spots". Dry stream beds, constructed of river cobbles, add aesthetic accents to the landscape, while abating erosion in drainage areas.
